Two Delhi Police constables were beaten up by five pickpockets in a moving Blueline bus in Nangloi area of Outer Delhi on Wednesday. The incident was reported around 1 pm,the police said.
Constables Kapil Singh and Parvez,posted with the Security Wing of the Delhi Police,were travelling in a Blueline bus plying on route number 926 (Old Delhi to Tikri border) when the incident took place. Near Lokesh Cinema,Singh felt somebody picking his pocket. He caught hold of the accused and started beating him up; Parvez joined him.
There were four other accomplices of the accused in the bus. They overpowered the constables and started beating them up. Later,they forced the driver to stop the bus and fled, a senior police official said.
A PCR van rushed the duo to a nearby hospital; they were discharged after first aid. A case has been registered in Nangloi police station and a 20-year-old man,identified as Mukesh,has been detained for questioning,the police said.
Singh is a resident of Mundka,while Parvez lives in Rajdhani Park nearby.
