At a meeting of seven department heads on Friday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal spoke on the redundancy of a “few” departments and said they will be merged at a public function sans media. Without divulging which departments will be merged, senior government officials said the merger process will “right size” the departments.
Not wanting to create panic among employees, the government is keeping the merger under wraps. Officials said just two departments, Excise and Sales Tax, are generating revenue for Delhi. Due to limited revenue, the government is thinking of merging a few departments, an official said.
DIIMTS has asked that the existing arrangement — it has both government and private shares in it — be reviewed. Sources said DIIMTS wants to operate as a private entity.
