Man who shot four of family dead
Gurgaon: Vijender Raghav,the 40-year-old ex-serviceman who shot at four members of his family before shooting himself at Krishna Colony late on Tuesday,died early on Wednesday morning. His father Krishanpal a few hours later. Vijenders wife,mother and younger brother had died on Tuesday itself. With the main accused in the case dead,DCP (West) Maheshwar Dayal said the case will now be closed.
Notice to govt for bus depot on floodplain
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought a response from the government for allegedly violating Master plan 2021 by building,what it calls,the worlds largest bus depot over the Yamuna River Zone. Issuing notice to the NCT government and the DDA,the court sought their reply by December 8 on a PIL alleging that the bus depot at Millennium Park was constructed without obtaining the DDAs permission. Filing the PIL,environmentalist Vinod Jain said the construction of the depot near Nizamuddin bridge would cause environmental disaster as the depot is located on the active flood plain and water recharging area.
Chikungunya rears its head,8 cases confirmed
New Delhi: Even as 86 new cases of dengue the highest so far were recorded in the Capital on Wednesday,taking the total number to 2,536,at least six people were diagnosed with the chikungunya virus,also spread by mosquitos,in Palam Village. Prior to these,two more cases of the virus had been reported by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases in Delhi,taking the total number of cases to eight.
