55-year-old held for raping minor

New Delhi: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 55-year-old neighbour who reportedly gave her sedative-laced food and then took her to a town in Uttar Pradesh on February 15. The accused has been identified as Dhirpal. He was arrested in Moradabad,police said. “The victim and Dhirpal were neighbours. As he lives alone,the girl’s family used to send food to his house. The girl used to bring him food. On February 15,he offered her some food laced with sedatives,” police said.

Neighbour arrested for rape of 19-year-old

New Delhi: A 25-year-old man from Chhattisgarh was arrested for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman in the Dhaula Kuan,South Delhi,police said. The victim,who works as caretaker at a house in the area,was sleeping when the accused,Sanjay Kumar,went to her room on Saturday,police said. “Kumar (who is victim’s neighbour) tried to befriend her. When she refused,he decided to take revenge,” said a senior police officer.

BRT accident: DTC bus injures 17-year-old

New Delhi: A 17-year-old boy suffered serious injuries when a low-floor DTC bus hit him on the Bus Rapid Transit corridor in Ambedkar Nagar,Southeast Delhi,on Tuesday around 6.30 pm,police said. After the incident,a mob surrounded the bus and damaged its windows. Police said the crowd also tried to block the road. The victim,who is yet to be identified,was crossing the road when the accident occurred. The police have registered a case against the driver.
