Four arrested for gangrape
Four men were arrested for raping a 22-year-old married woman in Najafgarh,Southwest Delhi. The accused Subhash,Raghubir,Krishna and Iswar Singh were arrested on Monday morning. The victim informed us that around 11 pm on Sunday,while she was waiting for an autorickshaw at Bajrang Enclave,four men drove upto her in a Maruti car. They offered her a lift,and when she declined,they pulled her into the car, police said. The victim told the police that the accused drove to a dark lane and there took turns to rape her. She claimed she was beaten up and threatened. A PCR van patrolling the area noticed the Maruti car and rescued the woman. The accused were arrested. A medical examination of the victim confirmed rape,police said.
Two burglars held in Kapashera
Two persons were arrested on Monday for allegedly robbing a number of high-profile foreign nationals,including the house of an attache of Consular Affairs. An LCD,laptop,hard discs,jewellery,credit cards and other stolen articles were recovered from their possession. The accused,Padmesh alias Santosh (21) and Sunil (20),were arrested early morning on Monday from Kapashera,Southwest Delhi. Police said the accused had burgled a farm house in Kapashera Estate,which had been leased out to an attache of Consular Affairs.
Man held at IGI with 588 watches
A resident of Delhi was arrested by the Customs department at IGI Terminal 3 on Monday for trying to smuggle in wristwatches and video projectors worth Rs 19 lakh from Singapore. Intekhab Haider was arrested while he was crossing the Green Channel. Examination of his disembarkation slip indicated that he had not filled his Customs Declaration Form properly. Detailed examination of his baggage showed the presence of watches, said a Customs official. Officials recovered 588 Titan wrist watches and two Panasonic video projectors from Haider.
