NDPL cuts power to 30 lawyers’ chambers
With a huge bill of Rs 3,94,000 pending for long, discom NDPL has disconnected power supply to 30 advocate chambers at Tis Hazari courts. With the reminders to the advocates coming to a naught, the discom finally decided that the only way to get them to pay would be by cutting supply. “We even held meetings with the Bar Association of Tis Hazari courts in order to have the dues cleared. We were left with no option but to disconnect the supply,” said an NDPL spokesperson. Interestingly, the discom has found that 400 chambers at the Tis Hazari courts do not have metered power connections, which means “advocates are engaged in direct theft of electricity”.
