Retired judge appointed to probe sarpanch killing

Gurgaon: The Haryana government on Tuesday appointed District and Session Judge (Retd) S K Sardana to conduct judicial enquiry into the murder of Hayatpur village Sarpanch on June 23. Sarpanch Rakesh Yadav was chased and killed by four contract killers around 2 pm. An angry mob had then nabbed one of the alleged killers,beaten him up and set him on fire. The accused died of burn injuries. A spokesperson of the Home department said the judge has been asked to submit a report within three months. Meanwhile,the main accused in the murder case,also called Rakesh,is still absconding.

The four assailants were allegedly hired by Rakesh to kill the sarpanch. They chased the victims to the nearby fields and shot him. Police said Yadav’s body bore six bullet injuries.
