Yamuna Expressway targets October 30 deadline
Lucknow: The 165-km-long Yamuna Expressway,connecting Delhi to Agra,will be completed by October 30,well in time for the first Formula One Grand Prix in Greater Noida. Both the expressway and the race track,which was recently renamed Buddh International Race Track,are being developed by the Jaypee Group. The October slot for F-1 has been fixed subject to final inspection by experts of Federation International de lAutomobile (FIA) in June. The expressway was to be completed by March 31,but work got stalled when farmers launched an agitation at Tappal near Aligarh to demand higher compensation for land acquired for a township project which is part of the expressway.

New Delhi: Three persons,who allegedly bought a Bolero from the money they collected through snatching gold chains,were arrested in South Delhi on Monday. The accused snatched gold chains of women who used to visit temples like Kalkaji and Chhatarpur,police said. The accused Mukesh (24),Pappu Singh (42) and Jai Singh (52) belong to Palwal,Haryana.
They have admitted to committing more than 100 chain snatchings. They use to flee to Haryana after committing a crime, said H G S Dhaliwal,ACP (South).
Court awards Rs 40,000 relief to constable
New Delhi: A city court has awarded Rs 40,000 as compensation to a traffic constable,Jorawar Singh,who was hit by a speeding vehicle in July 2009. It also asked the Delhi Police Commissioner to evolve a mechanism that would ensure safety for personnel while on duty on the roads. Noting that there were no special provisions for the safety of the policemen performing duty on roads or any mechanism to guard them from such hazards,the court held the accused accountable for rash and negligent driving.
Dont cancel allotments,High Court tells HUDA
Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court cancelled the orders passed by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) against the allotment of industrial plots in Faridabad and Gurgaon. The directions were passed in wake of petitions filed by residents of Faridabad and Gurgaon challenging the cancellation of allotment made the Haryana government in 2004. The High Court further directed the Chief Administrator of HUDA to intervene in the matter. The petitioners had alleged that without giving any basis for rejection,the HUDA had cancelled their allotment. Upholding the contentions,the High Court said: We are of the view that all such allottees be allowed to retain the (plots) on payment of market price of the industrial plots calculated with reference to the date of allotment.
