Ideally,our coaches and selectors should have been named and our main team should be playing all pre-season tournaments but we hope to make the time left to good use,” says Kirti Azad,the man who many reckon is the face of CIC. “For starters,we know that the statistics database has been fudged,so we are ensuring that all the data recorded are carefully preserved and monitored,and if any player is found over-age in any age group even once,he will be barred forever. That player cannot appear again because we will have his record in the database,” says Azad.

By weeding out 15 overage players through a stringent medical tests the CIC has made an immediate impact,even though it meant that the under-14 team left for Srinagar only a day before their first match,after just four days of trials. “We understand that this year is different. All this while,we were asking questions and wanted things to improve but now that we are here we will be also be held accountable for our actions,” says Surinder Khanna,who along with Bishen Bedi,Madan Lal and Maninder Singh form the core of the CIC. “Our prestige is at stake,and we will never do anything that ruins our hard-earned reputation on the cricket field,” adds Azad.

Good start for Delhi U-14 team

On Monday,Delhi,batting first,scored 291 against Haryana and reduced the opposition for 25/3 at the end of day’s play in the U-14 North Zone Tournament at Srinagar.
