Child molested on school bus: Gurgaon conductor fired, held

He went on to add that some parents met the principal Thursday after they heard about the molestation through the media. “Parents were assured by the principal that the school is totally equipped and is also taking all safety measures,” said Matharoo.

According to police, the incident took place when the girl, a nursery student, was being ferried home from school in the bus. She was sitting towards the back of the bus. The conductor, Shambu, sat next to her and molested her, said police. Other children, as well as a woman attendant, were in the bus at the time but no one realised what was happening, they added.

The girl told her mother about the incident Monday, when the latter noticed some swelling in her private parts and questioned her about it. Her parents then approached the school.

“A complaint was lodged regarding the incident at the Sector 56 police station under the POCSO Act Monday,” said ACP Hawa Singh, Gurgaon police PRO.

The accused hails from West Bengal and has been living in Gurgaon on rent. He had been working at the school for a week in place of the regular conductor who was on leave, said sources.

The bus in which the incident took place is owned by the institution, added police. The accused was arrested and produced in court Wednesday. He has been sent to Bhondsi Jail.
