CBI charges IAS officer Sanjay Pratap Singh with criminal misconduct

The CBI Thursday told a special court that the agency has slapped charges of criminal misconduct against senior IAS officer Sanjay Pratap Singh and his personal assistant, who were arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh. Investigators had also allegedly recovered gold worth Rs 82 lakh from the bureaucrat’s bank locker.

Seeking 13-day police custody of both accused, the CBI said that custodial interrogation was necessary to ascertain the source of the money and the gold. CBI officials are yet to examine four other bank lockers of Singh, the agency told the court.
