Big win for GGHHS
Gyan Deep Hindi High School,Gandhinagar thrashed St. Josephs High School,Baramulla 8-0 in their Pool C league match of the 38th junior boys (under-17) Nehru hockey tournament in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Leading 3-0 at half time,Gyan Deep HSS opened the scoring in the seventh minute itself and kept pumping in the goals till the dying minutes of the game. Md Aamir (25th minute,50th,57th) scored thrice while Shailesh Paswan and Nripennarayan scored a brace each while Ishan Upadhyay scored once. In other matches for the day,Government High Sr Sec School,Kollam drew 3-3 with Govt Boys Hr Sec School,Jashpur Shuin,Sarabin and Vivek scored for Kerala while Breej Minj,Ashwin Tirkey and Jerald Kujur scored for Jashpur and Govt Sr Sec School,Ludhiana drew with NCC (A) 2-2. Md Kavesh Warsi and Prashik Khobragadage scored for NCC while Gagandeep Singh converted two PCs for Ludhiana.
Inter-school knockout from Nov 6
The final phase of Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) Inter-school Football Tournament will be played from November 6 to 9 at the Air Force ground,New Wellingdon Camp,Race Couse,New Delhi. Bal Bharati Public School,Dwarka,CRPF Rohini (Dwarka Centre),The Air Force School (TAFS),Subroto Park,Salwan Public School ( Mayur Vihar-IIII),Amity International School,Noida,Father Agnel,Noida,The Shri Ram School,Gurgaon,and Scottish High International School,Gurgaon have qualified for the quarter-finals
The semi-final will be played on November 7 while the final is slated on November 9. The Delhi team for the Mir Iqbal hussain Trophy will be picked at the end of the tournament. Seven north zone teams have been divided in two groups: Group A- Delhi,Uttar Pradesh,Chandigarh; Group B-Uttarakhand,Jammu & Kashmir,Punjab,Himachal Pradesh. The top two teams from the North Zone cluster will qualify for the final round which will be played in Gurgaon. Defending champions Mizoram and hosts Haryana alongwith eight other qualifying teams will take part in the main round of the national competition.

Uttar Pradesh’s Under-19 cricketer Puneet Walia brilliant all-round display (37 and 3/35) along with Sudeep Das’s half century helped Sri Venkteshwara College beat St. Stephen’s College by 4 wickets to enter the next round of the Inter College cricket tournament.

Man of the match Ankur (48),Ajay Sharma (30),Ayush Kanojia (3/8) and Apurv (3/12) helped Deewan Academy beat Mata Jai Kaur Academy by 4 wickets to enter the final of the first Royal U-12 cricket tournament.
