Woman held for abandoning girl childFARIDABAD: Three months after an infant was found abandoned on the tracks near Faridabad railway station on December 10 last year,the police claimed to have arrested her mother,one Forenti,from a village in Rajasthan on Friday. The police got the first clue from a tag on her wrist: it said her mother’s name,Forenti. The clue led police to Safdarjung Hospital,where the child was delivered,and subsequently to her present address. Investigating officer Ishwar Singh said the police have sent Forentis blood and tissues for DNA testing.
Rs 16 lakh damagesNew Delhi: The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal on Saturday awarded a compensation of Rs 16.09 lakh to the widow and children of a man who died in an accident five years ago. Presiding officer of the Tribunal Swarana Kanta Sharma held that the bike rider,who was the victims friend,and the driver of the car which hit the two-wheeler were liable for the accident.

Car stolenNoida: A group of unidentified men stole a car at gunpoint from Sector-62 in Noida on Friday evening. The police said the driver,Purshottam,complained he was thrown out of the car near Ghaziabads Surya Nagar.

Lahore bus attackedNEW DELHI: An unidentified person threw a stone at a Lahore-bound bus near Kashmere Gate ISBT around 6.30 am on Saturday. No serious damages or injuries were reported. The bus was called back to the terminal and checked. The Delhi-Lahore bus was ferrying 35 passengers to Attari near the Indo-Pak border.
