Burglars loot shop,guard murdered

A security guard of a garment export house was allegedly killed and the office decamped with valuables worth more than a lakh,by burglars on Monday night.

A security guard of a garment export house was allegedly killed and the office decamped with valuables worth more than a lakh,by burglars on Monday night.

Police said the burglars feared the guard might recognise them and alert authorities. Initial reports said the guard after being tied up and dragged to the bathroom was suffocated to death.

The guard identified as Brij Karan who hails from Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh,had joined work just a couple of days ago after the previous guard was fired,for trying to burgle the store himself.

“We are also investigating to ascertain if there was an involvement of the previous guard. However,the burglars only managed to take away goods worth around a lakh,” said DCP West Abhay Rao.

The burglars fled with seven sewing machines,computers and batteries of generators. They were four to five in number. Police said they have taken pictures of the crime scene and also the footprints left by the burglars.

The company used to export fabrics mainly to European countries. Sources said the company is fearing of some of its designs being stolen.

Export house sources said security is big concern in this industrial belt,several letters have been written to the local police for providing adequate security cover. No arrests have been made so far.
