BSF chief’s office gets bomb in parcel

The office of the Director General (Border Security Force) on Friday received a package containing a mild-intensity bomb fitted inside a book.

The office of the Director General (Border Security Force) on Friday received a package containing a mild-intensity bomb fitted inside a book.

Police officers said the parcel was received around 12.30 pm. Vinay Ghosh,an employee of Blazeflash Couriers,delivered the package at the CGO Complex,Lodhi Colony.

The DG is out of town on an official tour. Police sources said a letter attached with the parcel read: “The bomb is being sent because our demands are not met. It is just a wake up call”.

The demands,police suspect,are regarding parity in salaries of paramilitary forces with that of the Army. Preliminary probe revealed a deputy commandant level officer could have sent the parcel.

The bomb was fitted in the book with a small detonator.

The DIG,BSF,K Srinivasan said they spotted some circuits in the parcel and immediately detained Ghosh. A dog squad and forensic experts were called and the area was cordoned off. “We are waiting for the Delhi Police reports now,” the DIG said.

The sender’s address on the parcel read VS International,Patiala. It had been dispatched to the BSF office from Kotla Mubarakpur branch of the courier company. The DCP,South,H G S Dhaliwal said investigations are on.
