Boy rescued,help held for abduction

“The boy’s father Farid Khan had employed the maid about a month ago for housekeeping,and looking after his two children. He owns a transport business,” said Meenu Choudhury,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest).

Khattun had been employed through a resident of Majlis Park.

“When we contacted her,she referred us to a woman in

Model Town. When we reached her house,she told us that the accused used to work in her colony as a housekeeper. Her former employee was questioned and police reached the house of her relatives in Mukundpur. The relatives told us that they had sheltered the woman because she was homeless. However,she had been missing since March this year. Later,on a tip-off,we traced her to a place near the neighbourhood Metro station in the morning,” the officer said.

“Khan used to bring large amounts of cash to his house,and the maid had seen him counting it on various occasions. Though the domestic help planned the kidnapping with the intention of collecting a ransom,she was nabbed before she could pull it off,” he added.

“Even in this case,the family had not put the domestic help through the police verification process. Delhiites are requested to go for verification to minimise the occurrence of such incidents,” the officer said.

This is the second incident of the kind to occur in the Capital in a period of one week. Last Sunday,18-month-old Ishaan,the son a businessman,was allegedly kidnapped by their domestic help,Savita alias Seema. Ishaan’s parents had employed her just 10 days before the kidnapping occurred.

The toddler was rescued from Faridabad,and police arrested five persons — including Savita.
