Bossing Around

This happens to be the first time a Bollywood film trailor is premiering at the DIFF.

Screenings at film festivals have become a norm among filmmakers to garner publicity. And Bollywood seems to have internalised this concept well. Ahead of its February 14 theatrical release in India, director Ali Abbas Zafar’s Gunday (of Mere Brother ki Dhulhan fame) will be premiering its trailor at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) on December 13 at the Madinat Theatre. This happens to be the first time a Bollywood film trailor is premiering at the DIFF.

The film which is produced by Aditya Chopra is inspired by a true story of two coal thieves,Bikram and Bala, who become friends, and later part of the market mafia in Kolkata of the ’70s. While Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor play the thieves,Priyanka Chopra plays the female lead role.

This edition of DIFF is celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema with screenings of Madhureeta Anand’s Kajarya; Amit Kumar’s Monsoon Shootout; Suman Mukhopadhayay Shesher Kobita; and Shaji N Karun’s Swapaanam.
