The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has opened the bidding process for the mega residential township it plans to develop along the Yamuna Expressway. Spread over 4,500 acres in various sectors,the township will have schools,colleges,shops and commercial establishments. The Authority has invited bids from private builders for the project. According to officials at the Yamuna Expressway Authority (YEA),approximately 40 villages of Bulandshahr will be included in the project. The mega city project will be floated in March this year; bidders were called in for the project. The project will be a lifeline for the Yamuna Expressway,which touches Agra at the other end. The township would be built on a grand scale,making it a world-class region of the district, said a senior official. The mega city will be one of the many cities that have been planned along the Yamuna Expressway. The board has also decided to compensate farmers of Bulandshahr on a par with those of Gautam Budh Nagar,Noida,whose land was acquired by the government. Compensation has been decided at Rs 880 per sq m by the board. The authority has finalised the masterplan for the Yamuna Expressway till Jevar in Gautam Budh Nagar. A layout plan for the Expressway township,and facilities to be developed along it till Agra,will soon be drafted by the authority. Sectors 1,2,16,17 and 17 B in the township will be developed by the authority. Earlier,the cost of acquiring land in Agra and Aligarh for a green belt was supposed to be borne by the Jaypee group,but now the YEA has decided to bear the cost on its own.
