Attack on MLA: Family demands CBI investigation

Family members of Najafgarh MLA Bharat Singh have demanded a CBI probe into the attack on the MLA at his office on June 1.

Bharat Singh is presently recuperating in the Medanta Medicity hospital. His elder brother and councillor Kishan Pehalwan who came to meet him at the hospital said he was dissatisfied with the ongoing police investigation.

We want a CBI probe into the attack. The sequence of events suggest that the Delhi Police has not been making serious efforts to nab the other culprits, Pehalwan said.

He alleged that some police officers were deliberately trying to shield those involved in the case. The attack on my brother was politically motivated as he was gaining popularity among the people in the constituency due to his work, Pehalwan said.

Pehalwan said the condition of Singh was improving and he has been taken off ventilator support.
