Atishi said that the recent murder has left everyone questioning what society, the country, and educators can do to prevent such incidents from happening again. Delhi Education Minister Atishi, who also holds the woman and child development portfolio, on Wednesday unveiled the fourth issue of the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) journal ‘Children First-Journal on Children’s Lives’ at Veer Savarkar Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Kalkaji.
“The previous editions of the journal had included voices from not only researchers and educationists but also from children themselves. This launch of the latest edition and recent incidents remind us that we need to create a planet that is more equal, just and happier for the children of our country,” said Atishi, referring to the recent murder of a teenage girl in Delhi.
The latest edition expands the journal’s thematic focus to embrace a broader range of concerns related to child rights and children’s well-being. The issue presents nearly 30 writings and research papers, including six by children, and also includes paintings of children from all over the country.
Atishi said that the recent murder has left everyone questioning what society, the country, and educators can do to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Atishi also highlighted the Delhi government’s investment in school infrastructure under the leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal. This, she said, was aimed to give students a sense of self-worth. Additionally, the government has prioritised addressing emotions such as unhappiness, anger and anxiety among students from underprivileged backgrounds in Delhi government schools through the Happiness Curriculum, Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum and Deshbhakti Curriculum, she added.
