A speeding Hyundai Accent car rammed a police picket at Jor Bagh in Lodhi Colony police station area early on Sunday injuring an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Delhi Police.

A speeding Hyundai Accent car rammed a police picket at Jor Bagh in Lodhi Colony police station area early on Sunday injuring an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Delhi Police. The police said the car belongs to the son of a Delhi High Court judge, but could not confirmed if he was behind the wheels.

The incident happened around 4 am when three officers of the Lodhi Colony police station had put up a picket on Aurbindo Marg in Jor Bagh as part of night checking. The speeding Hyundai Accent (DL3C AB 0562) ,coming from AIIMS side towards Jor Bagh, hit the divider and then the barricades. The barricades then hit ASI Sodan Singh, who was on duty. The driver immediately abandoned the car and fled.

Singh was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre where doctors reported multiple fractures in his right leg. The police have impounded the car, which has a Delhi High Court sticker on it. Officials said there was some fog so the driver could not see the road properly. “We are verifying who was driving the car at that moment. There were two persons sitting in the car,” said an officer.
