Jamia V-C nominated to RBI Central Board

NEW DELHI: Jamia Millia Islamia Vice-Chancellor Najeeb Jung has been nominated to the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India. The Central Board is appointed by the Government of India in keeping with the Reserve Bank of India Act. The Board is the apex body of the RBI,and it is entrusted with the general superintendence and direction of the bank. Jung received this information from the RBI Governor’s Office last week. An ex-IAS officer of the 1973 batch,he had joined the university as Vice-Chancellor in 2009.

A N Rai is director (enterprise) of BSNL

NEW DELHI: A N Rai has taken over as the new director (Enterprise) on the Board of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). Rai,an officer of Indian Telecommunications Service (1977 batch),holds a B Tech Degree in Electronics and Communications Engg from BHU,Varanasi.

Amicus curiae nod for JNUSU elections

New Delhi: Amicus curiae Gopal Subramaniam on Monday told members of the Joint Struggle Committee (JSC) to go ahead with elections to the JNU Students’ Union. He also assured JSC members that he will put in an application in the SC and request certain deviations from the Lyngdoh Committee Guidelines for conducting elections.
