19-year-old held with 1 kg of heroin

A teenager was arrested in the Capital with a kilogram of heroin,worth around Rs 1 crore,the police said on Wednesday. Feroz Sheikh (19) was apprehended near Nanak Saar Gurdwara on Wazirabad Road recently with the contraband,Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Neeraj Thakur said. Thakur added that Sheikh’s mother is also an alleged drug peddler with several criminal cases registered against her. “This is the first time Sheikh has been arrested. He and his cousin,Shabul,had smuggled the contraband from Bareilly and were supplying it in the Trans-Yamuna area of Delhi,” Thakur said. The accused hails from Loni in Ghaziabad,Uttar Pradesh.

Fake milk product seized,five held

The Noida police on Wednesday arrested five persons for allegedly transporting a tonne of fake mawaa (used for making sweets). The police said a mini-truck was stopped near Mamura Chowk following a tip-off. The accused,identified as Manohar,Rakesh,Brahmpal,Jitender and Rajesh,were apparently supplying spurious milk products to sweet shops ahead of Diwali. They have been booked for dealing in adulterated food products. 

Blaze at timber godown in W Delhi

A fire broke out at a timber warehouse in West Delhi on Wednesday,fire brigade officials said. The incident was reported from the warehouse in Tilak Nagar and 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot,they said. The blaze was brought under control in an hour. According to the officials,no one was reported injured.
