Partial restrictions on Games lane today
New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police has decided to impose partial restriction on general traffic movement on Friday between 11 am and 12 noon and between 10 pm and 11 pm on the Commonwealth Games lanes between the IGI Airport and the Games Village. The traffic police will facilitate the movement of delegates arriving at the airport with fixed restrictions ranging between 5-10 minutes. A traffic pilot will head the Games contingent and the public is advised to follow instructions and give way. Restrictions would be imposed on Games movement need basis, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyendra Garg said.
No salary for teachers on strike,rules V-C
New Delhi: Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Deepak Pental on Thursday used his emergency powers to order that teachers on strike would not be paid salary for the same period. …In order the protect the interest of the students,the Vice-Chancellor…has decided the teachers who abstain from duty due should henceforth not be paid salary and allowances for such period, said the letter from the Registrars office. The DUTA replied that only the Executive Council has the power to decide the matter.
Woman dead,2 children injured in house collapse
Gurgaon: A mother of two died when a house collapsed in Jaikhampur,near Sohna Chowk on Old Railway Road. The incident occurred around 6.30 pm on Thursday when the woman,who is yet to be identified,was returning home with her children. While the children,aged one and two,are battling for life at Kalyani Hospital,the mother died on the way. A case is yet to be registered.
Two held for helping suspected Pak spy
New Delhi: Two persons were arrested for allegedly helping a suspected Pakistani spy nabbed this week,the police said on Thursday. One of the arrested had helped suspected ISI agent Sajjad Haider enter the country through the Bangladesh border while the other helped him to get a rented accommodation here. Haider (43) was apprehended by a Special Cell team from Samalkha village here on September 14.
