Minimum wages hiked by 33 per cent
The Delhi Cabinet on Monday approved the increase of minimum wages by 33 per cent. The new wages will be effective from February 1. Minimum wages in Delhi remains the highest in the country. With the hike,minimum wages for unskilled labour has been increased from Rs 163 to Rs 203 per day. In case of semi-skilled (non-matriculate) workers,minimum wages will be Rs 225 per day; in case of skilled workers (matriculate),wages will be Rs 248 per day. An unskilled worker will now get Rs 5,272 per month a part of the new wage scheme,while semi-skilled workers will get Rs 5,850 per month and skilled workers will be entitled for Rs 6,448 per month. Daily wages have also been hiked for clerical and non-technical supervisory staff,. In case of workers who are graduates and above,wages per day will Rs 270 with a monthly amount of Rs 7,020.
Nod to nine new legal services authorities
The Cabinet also gave a nod to nine new district legal services authorities for each district of the city. Earlier,there was only one such body functioning at the Rohini courts complex.
The authorities will provide legal aid and advice. Each district authority will consist of a district judge as its chairperson and other members possessing the experience and qualifications as prescribed by the state government to be nominated in consultation with the Chief Justice of the High Court. The Cabinet earlier sanctioned nine full-time secretaries at the District Legal Services Authorities along with the ancillary staff.
Man found dead in car
Ghaziabad: A 35-year-old man was found dead in an Alto car in Moradnagar on Monday morning. Anand Pal was working as a driver for a lawyer Munesh Tyagi who is a resident of Moradnagar. According to the police,Tyagi told them that the driver took his car with him on Sunday evening saying he would return next morning. The drivers body had marks as if he was beaten before being murdered, said Captain M M Baig,SP (Rural).
Man dies in accident
NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old man was killed,while another sustained injuries after their three-wheeler crashed into a stationary truck in Okhla at 6.30 am on Monday. The police identified the deceased as Rahul Singh. He was going from Mehrauli-Badarpur road to Kalkaji.
Biker killed
NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old man was killed by a speeding Innova car in Southwest Delhi on Monday. The incident occurred at 9 am in Dwarkas Sector 18,the police said. The deceased Praveen and his friend Krishna (28) were on their way to work when the Innova rammed their motorcycle from behind.
Man found dead
NEW DELHI: An unidentified man was found dead in North Delhi on Monday. The police said the man was a victim of a hit-and-run incident in Civil Lines area on Sunday night.
Snatcher held
NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old man,Aslam Khan,allegedly involved in more than 50 cases of snatching was arrested from near Bhagirathi Water Treatment Plant. The police also arrested a jeweller,Vijay Gupta,allegedly the receiver of stolen goods. A countrymade pistol,a bike and two gold chains were recovered from them,the police said.
Robbers arrested
NEW DELHI: Three alleged robbers were arrested on Sunday with Rs 3lakh in cash and two mobile phones. The accused have been identified as Ali Mahmood Khan,Nasim and Subhash and they were arrested from Nangloi hours after they looted Rs 4 lakh from a man in a bus.
Funds for cow shelter
New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Monday released a sum of Rs 3.15 crore as grant-in-aid for five cow shelters in the city. Chairperson of the MCD Standing Committee Ram Kishan Singhal disbursed the half-yearly amount of grant for the year 2009-10 after visiting three such units in Najafgarh Zone.
