ASI notice to DMRC,Games panel
The Archaeological Survey of India has issued notices to several agencies,including the Delhi Metro and Commonwealth Games Committee,over 92 structures constructed within prohibited areas in centrally protected monuments. The notices were sent on the instruction of the Delhi High Court,which declared as illegal a high-level expert committee that granted permissions to these agencies for construction of the structures.

KVs to recruit teachers for ‘special’ students
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and the state government assured the Delhi High Court on Friday that they would soon recruit special educators for differently-abled children. KVS informed a Bench of Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice S Muralidhar that its governing body has approved appointment of special teachers and the process of recruitment would begin soon. The Delhi government submitted that it had also decided to amend recruitment rules for the appointment of special teachers in its schools and the proposal has been sent to Lieutenant-Governor for approval. The school’s response comes a day after the court pulled up the KVS for not having trained teachers in any of its schools,which have 1,561 differently-abled students.

Bar Council election results declared
The results of the Bar Council of Delhi elections were formally announced on Friday. The names of the 25 successful candidates were announced after the counting,presided over by Retired Justice S K Mahajan,concluded. Abhay Kumar,K K Manan,Murari Tiwari,R Gupta,Ved Prakash Sharma,R S Goswami,Rakesh Sehrawat,Rakesh Tikoo,R K Kocchar and Suryaprakash have been confirmed as the top ten candidates. The other successful candidates include Sarla Kaushik,R S Chauhan and J S Nagar.

SRCC fest to begin today
‘Crossroads’,the annual cultural-cum-management festival of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC),will begin on December 19 and continue till December 22. A highlight of the event is the Rock Night on December 19,featuring Them Clones. Western dance and fashion show are slated for December 20. December 21 will feature a DJ night; and the closing day will have Kailash Kher on campus. Evening event will start at 4 pm and passes will be available at the college gate.

Dhaliwal: Nothing like foolproof security
The Delhi Police on Friday said “there can be no foolproof security arrangements” and Delhiites “should have a sense of integrity and awareness” while abiding by law and order. During an interaction,Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said it would be wrong to say that police can make foolproof arrangements. In fact,there is nothing like foolproof security and the police can only try its best to avoid any mishaps,” Dhaliwal said. An award ceremony,for the people who helped the police in detection and prevention of crime,was also held during the interaction meant for residents of South Delhi. The police and Crime Victims Welfare Association also distributed Rs 2 lakh among the relatives of victims of crime in South Delhi.

Vishal Yadav bail plea
Vishal Yadav,who is serving a life term in the 2002 Nitish Katara murder case,moved the Delhi High Court on Friday seeking interim bail to attend his sister’s marriage. A Division Bench comprising Justices Vipin Sanghi and Anil Kumar,after admitting Yadav’s plea,issued a notice to Delhi Police and Uttar Pradesh Police and asked them to file their response by December 23.

Exporter,wife let off
An exporter and his wife have been let off in a Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA) case slapped by the Enforcement Directorate in 1998 as the Delhi High Court quashed a lower court order asking them to stand trial. Justice M C Garg on Thursday exonerated the two of the charges of having transactions worth million of rupees in violation of laws after noting that there was nothing incriminating against them.

Civil servant held for tricking woman into marriage by hiding age
A civil servant posted in UP has been arrested for allegedly marrying a Delhi girl by concealing his age and the fact that he was previously married.

According to the police,Captain Pramod Kumar Bajaj,an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer,was arrested from Lucknow by a Delhi Police team on Wednesday. He is presently posted as Additional Director of Regional Training Institute of Direct Taxes in Lucknow.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) N S Bundela said the arrest came during a probe into a complaint filed by a woman from Ashok Vihar. She had alleged Bajaj married her by hiding his age and marital status. The police said Bajaj is also accused of pasting “anti-national” posters in Punjab in the name of his ex-wife’s father and a case under TADA was registered against him and his brother. Though he managed to get it quashed from the High Court,this case is pending for revision in the Supreme Court.
Investigating officers said Bajaj had tricked several other women into marriage,forcibly kept their jewellery and valuables,and later thrown them out of his house.

H1N1: Classes suspended at St Stephen’s
St Stephen’s College suspended its BA (Economics) third year classes till Saturday after two students and two teachers were tested positive for H1N1 virus.
