Gurgaon shops to remain open 24×7
Retail outlets across Haryana can now remain open round the clock and seven days a week but with certain rules. Officials said it is mandatory for persons availing the facility to fill a form available on the website,www.hrlabour.org,and deposit the requisite fee. Shopkeepers will no longer have to apply for special exemption under the Punjab Shops & Commercial Establishments Act,1958. But they will have to abide by rules outlined under the Minimum Wages Act and the above mentioned Act; have a sexual harassment cell and transport facility with a guard especially for women employees, a senior Labour department official said.
Rs 3 lakh snatched from woman
NEW DELHI: Unidentified assailants snatched Rs 3 lakh from a woman,who had reportedly come to Delhi for a kidney operation. The incident was reported from Green Park,South Delhi,on Wednesday afternoon. Police officials said the victim,Savitri,a native of Haryana,had withdrawn the cash from a State Bank of India branch. The assailants snatched the bag near the branch and escaped, a police official said. Police have registered a case and are scanning the CCTV footages of the bank to identify the assailants.
Fire in slum cluster
NEW DELHI: Eight hutments were gutted in a minor fire in a slum cluster in East Delhi on Wednesday evening,fire brigade officials said. The incident was reported from Indira Camp slums in Kalyanpuri. No one was injured in the fire. The reason for the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
HC notice to MCD,govt
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court issued notice to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD),Delhi government and the police on Wednesday on the petition filed by the mother of a man who died after his car fell into an open drain last year. The drain was left uncovered in West Delhi where construction work was being undertaken by the MCD. The victims mother sought compensation of Rs 50 lakh. The court has directed the three to file their response by July 21.
Demolition drive in Govindpuri
NEW DELHI: The Building department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhis Central Zone demolished four properties in Govindpuri on Wednesday as part of its ongoing demolition drive against encroachment and unauthorised construction. The department has already demolished four other properties since Monday.
Munirka flyover inaugurated
NEW DELHI: The much-awaited flyover at the Nelson Mandela and Vivekanand Marg crossings,expected to improve traffic flow to the Indira Gandhi International Airport from South Delhi,was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday. With this,the entire stretch on the Outer Ring Road from IIT to the IGI Airport has become signal-free.
