Domestic help raped,two arrested

Greater NOIDA: A 20-year-old domestic help was allegedly gangraped by two drivers on the terrace of a housing society in PI sector of Greater Noida on Tuesday. Police said that the victim,who worked in Green Meadow Society,was raped by Amit Sharma and Kapil Sharma,both drivers.

Driver accused of gangrape held

New Delhi: A 30-year-old driver,wanted in a gangrape case,was arrested on Wednesday during investigations into a car theft case in Indirapuram. Five of his associates had already been arrested for raping a woman in a moving car at Seemapuri in November last year.

Two arrested for kidnapping astrologer

New Delhi: Two persons have been arrested by the North District police for allegedly kidnapping a 65-year-old astrologer for a ransom of Rs 7 lakh on February 7. The accused have been identified as Kailash (35) and Prahlad (35),both residents of Rajasthan. They allegedly abducted the victim,Leeladhar,while he was on his way to Gurgaon.

Clarify on NCPUL director: High Court

New Delhi: The High Court,on Wednesday,sought a response from the Centre on a petition to remove the Director of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) from service,as his tenure had become “illegal”. An inquiry with regard to a disproportionate assets case was also pending against him.

Two commit suicide on Tuesday night

New Delhi: Two suicides were reported in the city on Tuesday night. In the first case,a 40-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Badarpur. In the second incident,a 22-year-old waiter who worked at the Supreme Court canteen was found hanging at his house in Krishna Nagar on Tuesday. The reasons are not known.
