The High Court on Friday sought responses from the Delhi government and the Medical Superintendent of GB Pant Hospital on a petition filed by a 17-year-old boy.

Teen’s plea in HC for free treatment

New Delhi: The High Court on Friday sought responses from the Delhi government and the Medical Superintendent of GB Pant Hospital on a petition filed by a 17-year-old boy,who was denied free treatment for his cardiac problems. Justice S Muralidhar asked the government to consider giving the boy,Furkan,free treatment without insisting on a BPL card. The petition further stated that the boy’s father was asked to deposit Rs 1.3 lakh with the hospital.

Police unearth two coin-melting units

New Delhi: The police,on Friday,claimed to have unearthed two illegal factories that were allegedly involved in melting old Indian coins and converting them into metal slabs for sale in the open market. The slabs would then be used to make artificial jewellery and antiques. Five persons,factory owner Mohammad Jameel and his labourers — Faeem,Salim,Rahmat Ali and Mursalin,were arrested on January 5 in this connection.

Onion prices shoot up again,traders hopeful

New Delhi: The price of onions shot up once again with the retail price hovering around Rs 60-65 per kg. The Delhi government and traders are,however,hopeful that it will come down in a couple of days as the supply lines from Pakistan have opened up. About 1,014 tonnes of onion came into Delhi on Friday.
