The night temperature on Tuesday dipped slightly after some areas in Delhi saw sudden thundershowers and brief spells of rain. Kalkaji,CR Park and Vasant Kunj,North Campus and area adjoining Red Fort saw thundershowers and lightning. For Wednesday,the IMD has predicted a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunderstorms in some places. Earlier in the day,with the mercury touching 42.8 degrees,the power demand went up significantly,resulting in powercuts in several areas. Almost all areas in South Delhi,and several areas in East,West and North Delhi experienced powercuts. A power department official said Tuesday’s peak demand shot up to 4016 MW.

Transplant for radiation victim
Radiation patient Deepak Jain is likely to undergo a bone marrow transplant at the Army Hospital Research and Referral following no improvement in his condition,doctors said on Tuesday. “Jain is likely to be shifted today or tomorrow to our hospital. A donor for bone marrow transplant has been identified in his family and as soon as he is shifted to the hospital,we will conduct further investigations and carry out the bone marrow transplant,” Commandant,Army Hospital,Lieutenant General Naresh Kumar said. Jain was admitted to Apollo Hospital on April 4. PTI
