Seven injured in East Delhi fire
Seven persons sustained burn injuries,with three reported to have received serious injuries,after a fire broke out on the fourth floor of a residential building in East Delhi. Fire officials said the blaze was reported from House No 287 in Gali No 7 of Lalita Park in Laxmi Nagar around 1 pm. A group of labourers was involved in manufacturing artificial jewellery at the house,when the fire broke out. The police said since there were chemicals in the house,the fire spread fast. One fire tender was sent to the spot. The police suspect short circuit as the cause for fire. A case of negligence has been registered against unknown persons.

Cab operator found dead in Vasant Kunj
A 30-year-old taxi operator was found dead in his Wagon R car in Vasant Kunj,South Delhi,on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Virender Yadav,a resident of Mahipalpur. The police said Yadav’s body bore strangulation marks. The body was found by a beat constable. “The body has been transferred to AIIMS mortuary for a postmortem examination,” a police official said.

Two minor boys held for killing friend
Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police arrested two minors on Monday for allegedly murdering their friend. The police said the two strangulated Nisaran,13,on April 20 after being paid Rs 20,000 by a woman from whose shop he had stolen money. The police said the woman wanted to teach Nisaran a lesson after finding out that he also involved her nephew in stealing money. The incident took place in Vijay Nagar’s Shraveri. The two,aged 14 and 15,have been sent to juvenile home,a police official said.

High Court direction to cops in child marriage case
The Delhi High Court has directed the police to produce in court the minor girl who was allegedly sold for Rs 50,000 and married to a 40-year-old man. On Monday,the court asked the police to produce the girl by May 4. The court also asked the police to look for the girl’s father who allegedly went missing after the incident. The direction came following a petition filed by Association for Social Justice,an NGO.

Congress,BJP workers clash,case registered
BJP and Congress workers clashed in a Southeast Delhi locality on Sunday afternoon when S C L Gupta,a Congress councillor,was addressing party workers over the water crisis in the area. Sources said some men,reportedly from BJP,arrived at the spot and the two groups clashed with each other. The police,who were called by a resident,found several injured persons and rushed them to a nearby hospital. A case of rioting has been registered against the workers of BJP and Congress. The area has been facing acute water crisis for the past one month and residents have alleged that water is sold by the Delhi Jal Board to private distributors. The charge has been denied by the authority.

Cash,jewellery worth lakhs robbed from S Delhi house
Unidentified burglars ransacked a house in South Delhi on Monday afternoon and decamped with cash and jewellery worth lakhs,the police said. The incident was reported around 3 pm from the house of one Joseph in Sector-VIII of R K Puram. A case has been registered.
