Three held for killing police informer
Three persons were arrested by the Ghaziabad police on Monday for killing Riyazuddin,an alleged informer of the Delhi Police. Riyazuddins body was found near Tulsi Niketan police post in Sahibabad. The police said he was murdered when he was returning home after closing his shop in Delhi on January 19. Raghuveer Lal,SSP,Ghaziabad,said Riyazuddin,a property dealer,was murdered by Sheru alias Sherkhan,a resident of Delhi and his accomplices Akbar and Mahendra Pahadi. He was talking to his wife on phone when he was shot.
Mona Suri murder: assailants sketches released
New Delhi: The Delhi Police have released sketches of two suspected assailants of fashion designer Mona Suri who was burnt to death two years ago. Police have also declared a reward of Rs 25,000 to anyone who assists the Crime Branch,which is probing the case. Suri was set on fire by two unidentified assailants outside her Greater Kailash residence on August 12,2007. She died at a city hospital on October 21. No motive behind the murder has been established as yet,officials said. Suris husband,Naveen,his girlfriend Rachna and friend Rajiv Sharma have already undergone narco-analysis tests in the case.
Noida: The Noida police arrested a member of a gang of looters,which went on a looting and abduction spree on Monday night. The accused has been identified as Harish,resident of Bhagpat. According to Ashok Tripathi,SP (City),the gang first looted a Maruti Zen Estilo car from Sector-25 around 10 pm. They then abducted one Rohit Arora,a resident of Haridwar who was in the city to meet a friend who lives in Sector-29. Arora was abducted from Sector-29 and dropped off near Akshardham Temple. The looters took away his cash,mobile phone and debit cards along with the password. Arora was beaten up too, SP Tripathi said. Around 11.30 pm,the looters went to Lakshmi Nagar in Delhi and abducted another man named Rajeev Khanna,he added. Arora,meanwhile,informed the police and gave the car details. When the car entered Noida again,the looters were nabbed. However,one of them managed to escape, the SP added.
Auto driver found dead
New Delhi: An auto-rickshaw driver was killed allegedly by unidentified assailants in Chanakyapuri on Tuesday. The police said they received a call about the incident around 8.15 am,when a passerby saw the driver,Suresh Mehto,lying on the ground. Mehto lived in Trilokpuri. We suspect personal enmity could be the reason behind the case, a police officer said. A case has been registered at the Chanakyapuri police station.
Metro citizens forum
New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Citizens Forum programme on Tuesday crossed over to Noida as well. The initiative,aimed at generating good travel conduct among Metro users,saw 100 people filling up the forms,taking the total to 400 in NCR. The drive will continue for another three days. The DMRC recently organised an induction programme for fresh volunteers who wanted to join the Metro Citizens Volunteer Forum at the Metro Bhawan on February 11.
