PAC jawan dead as dumper hits his bike
A 26-year-old Provincial Armed Constabulary jawan was killed after a speeding dumper hit his motorbike in Sarita Vihar on Saturday. The deceased,identified as Jitender Singh,was a native of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. The police said Singh received grievous head injuries and was rushed to hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police impounded the dumper and booked its driver for rash and negligent driving.
Truck crushes man
A speeding truck hit an auto-rickshaw in Hauz Khas late Friday night,killing its driver on the spot. Police said Monu Gupt,25,was returning home when the accident occurred. He was declared dead on arrival at hospital. The truck driver,identified as Usman,has been arrested.
Body found in S Delhi
The body of a 25-year-old man from Kotla Mubarakpur area in South Delhi was found on Saturday. Police officials said the deceased,identified as Amit Kumar,had several cases registered against him.
DMRC cleaner injured
The cleaner of a Delhi Metro lorry sustained injuries after it overturned and rammed into a pavement near the All India Radio Office on Parliament Street around 9 pm on Saturday.
Sheila meets PM,discusses Games projects
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday to apprise him of the status of various infrastructure projects undertaken as part of preparations for next years Commonwealth Games. The Chief Minister is also understood to have explained to the Prime Minister the efforts being undertaken by her government to make the sporting extravaganza a success.
The meeting comes just a week after the Commonwealth Games Federation Coordination Commission,evaluating preparations for the event,expressed concern over status of projects relating to the event.
