Water tariff hike: Cong refuses comment,BJP to protest
The Congress on Wednesday refused to take a stance on the Delhi water tariff hike,maintaining it the state governments decision. I cant answer for the Delhi government. I am sure the Chief Minister will explain the reasons for taking this step, AICC spokesman Jayanthi Natarajan said. The BJP,meanwhile,has decided to move a no-confidence motion against the Congress-led state government in the Delhi Assembly on December 9. The ruling BJP in MCD has also decided to stage a protest at Jantar Mantar on Thursday.
Shakurpur deaths: HC seeks response
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought an explanation from the government and civic bodies on the deaths of two boys by drowning in a pit allegedly dug by the MCD workers. Taking suo motu cognizance,a Division Bench of Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice S Muralidhar issued notice to the government,DDA,MCD and the Shakurpur councillor and asked them to file their response by December 9. The ruling BJP in MCD has also demanded that strict punitive action be taken against those found guilty of negligence. The Mayor and other MCD members have assured that an inquiry has been initiated.
JNU violence: students to protest
The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union has decided to boycott the proctorial inquiry constituted to probe the on-campus violence of November 22. The inquiry was ordered after a three-member fact-finding committee report indicated that students had a hand in provoking the police to lathicharge them. Student organisations will observe a black flag day on Thursday.
Forged passport racket: 4 held
Four men were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly running a forged passport racket. The police said the arrested have been identified as MTech degree holder Sarvesh Yadav,(36) who operated a travel agency,Patma Das (60) and Lankan migrants Kandiah Vishvanathamuthaly (48) and T Vickna Rajah (56). The gang was allegedly involved in preparing forged passports and visas for Lankan nationals.
Court seeks progress in murder case
A city court on Tuesday directed the investigating officer,probing the unsolved murder of fashion designer Mona Suri,to appear on December 19 to report the progress in the case. Suri was burnt alive outside her GK residence in 2007 and died nine days later.

A city court on Wednesday remanded four men,arrested for their alleged involvement in robberies in Chanakyapuri area,to two days police custody.
Cop summoned in gangrape case
A city court on Wednesday expressed unhappiness that a chargesheet in the alleged gangrape of a private firm employee by three Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials had not been filed yet,and asked the investigating officer to appear before it on December 21.
