3 workers die in Dadri accident
Three workers from Bihar were killed and a few seriously injured when a concrete slab from an under-construction building fell on them while they were sleeping. A National Thermal Power Corporation complex was under construction in Dadri,Greater Noida. A criminal case of negligence has been registered against the construction company.
Man held for murder
Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a 22-year-old man in the National Capital for allegedly murdering his wifes former husband with a butchers knife in a market square after the two had an altercation. Amit,22,allegedly murdered Sujeet,28,on November 10 in Munirka area.
Pay maintenance
A city court has dismissed an appeal by an Indian doctor against an order directing him to pay maintenance to his estranged Russian wife under the Domestic Violence Act. The court did not find merit in the appeal of the doctor who had challenged an earlier decision of a lower court asking him to pay her Rs 8,000.
Warrant for IM men
A city court on Thursday issued a fresh production warrant against 11 suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists,accused of carrying out serial blasts in the Capital on September 13,2008,after the Gujarat Police failed to produce them. The court has now sought presence of the accused,who are at present lodged in Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad,on November 26.
Killer cabbies guilty
Five members of the highway gang who used to give lift to passengers and then rob and kill them,were held guilty in one of the cases on Wednesday. The court of justice B S Singhal held Mukesh,Ravi,Rohtash,Vikram and Vicky guilty of the murder of one Mahender Kumar Singh,a resident of Farrukhnagar here. The court will give its verdict on November 14.
Contract killer held
Delhi police on Thursday claimed to have arrested Rajesh Pandey,a Delhi University commerce graduate who allegedly worked as a contract killer and was involved in a murder in Chanakyapuri area. In February,some people in an Indica car were involved in a shootout. Police said Pandey was the only one who was absconding. One Ankit was killed in the incident and another man was seriously wounded.
No concession
Delhi government refused to give any concession to Karol Bagh and Paharganj Hotels in the licence fee to serve liquor. The hotel associations had approached the government asking for easier measures to get licence to serve liquor for 2010 Games. The government,however,has categorically denied giving permission. The government said hotels can serve liquor in individual rooms by taking the cheaper licence of L-3.
