30 days police remand for Munna Bajrangi
A city court on Monday allowed an additional 30 days police remand of Uttar Pradesh gangster Munna Bajrangi under the stringent provisions of MCOCA and also issued a production warrant against former MLA Mukhtar Ansari for alleged complicity. The court allowed the prolonged custodial interrogation request by the police after they averred that the accused indulged in a series of organised crimes along with his associates in Delhi. The production warrant against Ansari,a former UP legislator who is presently lodged in Ghazipur jail in UP in the 2005 murder case of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai,was also issued on the investigators request.
Life imprisonment for killing wife
A man who killed his wife by pouring acid on her has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a city court,which directed the Delhi government not to extend any benefit to him even if he displays good conduct in prison. ASJ Gurdeep Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on convict Nitin Kumar Arora. As per the prosecution, Khusis husband Nitin attacked her with acid in her office when she refused to go to her in-laws house on November 20,2006.
BJP bandh on Friday over soaring prices
Lashing out at the government for the spiralling cost of essential commodities and the recent increase in bus fares and power tariff,Delhi BJP has announced a bandh on Friday. With the bandh,BJP is kick-starting its campaign against price rise. This is to protest the rapidly increasing price rise of essential commodities and the series of steps taken by the government that might make the situation worse right from school fee hike to increase in bus fare.
What is surprising is that all these steps have been taken soon after Lok Sabha elections, said Delhi BJP president O P Kohli.
Cashier looted at gunpoint in Noida
Noida: A cashier with a construction company in Noida was looted on Monday. Dev Kumar,cashier with Nitin Construction Company,had stepped out of an office meeting in Vishal Chambers,Sector-18 when he was looted of Rs 20,000 and some documents by two motorcycle borne assailants,the police said. Dev was looted at a gunpoint. He was carrying Rs 20,000 which he had to give to the companys supervisor, said PP Singh,SHO at Sector-20.
