Woman jumps in front of Metro train
NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old woman,who was reportedly depressed after a fight with her husband the previous night,jumped in front of a Metro train along with her two daughters at the Seelampur station on Monday morning. Though the children escaped with minor injuries,the woman is said to be in a critical state. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Bhairon Singh Gurjar said,We are yet to record the womans statement. An inquiry has been ordered into the matter.
Five persons held for chain-snatching
NEW DELHI: A gang of five men,including two brothers,were arrested by South Delhi police on Monday for their alleged involvement in a string of chain-snatching incidents. The arrested persons have been identified as Vikram (23),Vinod Binu (30),Bishan Singh (30),Sunil (33) and Anand Kumar Soni (42). The five were wanted in at least 43 cases of chain snatching, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chayya Sharma,adding that they were arrested from RK Purams Sector-7 area on a tip-off.
Woman held with 500 gm of heroin
NEW DELHI: A young woman has been arrested for allegedly possessing 500 gm of heroin,police said on Monday. Identifying the woman as Beauty,police said she headed a drug syndicate in the Capital. She was nabbed from Shastri Park on Sunday,following probes into inputs provided by two associates Zakir Hussain and Nazma Bibi who were arrested three days ago.
