Gurgaon:To prevent anti-social elements from harassing women through prank calls,the Gurgaon police are planning to set up an anti-obscenity call cell on the lines of the one in Delhi. The cell will take take action against people who make obscene or unwanted phone calls to women. “We have been getting a number of complaints regarding this,and in order to curb this problem,the police are going to set up this cell,” said a senior police officer.

The cell will comprise a police inspector,a woman police inspector,a woman head constable and two constables.

Housewife held for stealing laptops,phones

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police arrested a gang of four persons,including two juveniles,who stole laptops and cellphones from Kalkaji area of South Delhi. While Shashank (20),a DU student,would scout the targeted area,Poonam Malhotra (38),a housewife residing in Govindpuri,would allegedly make her son sneak into homes and steal cellphones as well as laptops. Five laptops and three cellphones have been recovered from their possession.

Two held for murder,robbery across 3 states

NEW DELHI: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested two persons in connection with several cases of robbery and murder across Delhi,Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. The arrested persons have been identified as Irfan (38) and Bhagwati (32). Irfan is accused in as many as 30 criminal cases. Arun Kampani,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell),said,“In 1994,Irfan allegedly killed his associate Babu for becoming the gang leader. In 2006,he and his associates committed a robbery in Gokulpuri and stole cash amounting to Rs 3 lakh,besides jewellery.”

NDPL 77th best place to work in India: Survey

NEW DELHI: The Great Place to Work Institute-India has ranked North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) in the 77th position in its ‘India’s best companies to work for’ survey-2011. Close to 500 companies spanning sectors such as IT,ITeS,telecom,manufacturing,hospitality and banking had participated in the survey.
