Row over official residence: HC seeks Centres response
The Delhi High Court on Monday sought the Centres response on an appeal filed by Member of Parliament from J&K Mirza Mehboob Baig,challenging its single-judge order to vacate his official premises that is to be allotted to a senior central government employee. A Division Bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna issued a notice to the Centre and the Directorate of Estate and sought their replies by May 2 on the appeal filed by Baig. On February 11,the single judge had pulled up the Centre for alloting the bungalow to Baig and directed him to vacate the residence at 60,Ashoka Road in three months.
Clash over parked cars; five injured
Five persons,including two women,were injured when two groups allegedly clashed outside an NDMC community hall near Khan Market on Sunday evening,police said. The incident occurred around 11.15 pm,when guests attending a religious function at the NDMC community hall assaulted a resident who had objected to the parking of so many vehicles near his residence, said a senior police officer. The man then called his neighbours and an argument ensued,which turned violent. Stones were also pelted,damaging a dozen cars parked near the hall, the officer said. No criminal case has been filed.
Man jumps off Metro station building
A 57-year-old man jumped off the building of the Paschim Vihar East Metro station around 7.30 am on Monday. The deceased was identified as Naresh,an employee of Bharat Electronic Limited (BEL). A PCR van rushed him to Balaji Hospital,where he was declared brought dead, said a senior police officer. A suicide note was found.
