The Army’s senior leadership on Monday discussed charting the future course of the force during the ‘Amrit Kaal’, its ongoing transformational initiatives and its contribution towards achieving the objective of Viksit Bharat@2047, the Defence ministry said.
This was the first high-level meeting under General Upendra Dwivedi’s leadership since he assumed the role of COAS on June 30. The meeting, which will continue till Tuesday, is being attended by the General Officer Commanding-in-Chiefs of the Army’s seven commands.
As per the Defence ministry, the forum provided an opportunity for the Army’s top brass to brainstorm on strategic issues and set the direction for the force’s transformation over the next two decades. It said the senior leadership engaged in interactive discussions to define the Army’s role in the national vision and articulated the Army’s Vision@2047, outlining several broad goals to be pursued in the next decade, including theaterisation, reorganisation of Army and Command Headquarters, realignment of Command, Corps and Area HQ boundaries.
Other agendas included world class infrastructure development and cross-domain operational capabilities, among others.
