Fashion label Giorgio Armanis Indian wing has been told by a consumer forum here to refund the cost of a pair of jeans to a customer,and pay Rs 10,000 as compensation for harassment.
The company had sold him the wrong size of jeans and then refused to exchange the garment.
Armani was held guilty of unfair trade practice by the Southwest Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum for not showing the correct size of the jeans on its label.
It stands proved that the tag attached to the jeans mentioned the size at the waist as 33 inches and as deposed by the complainant it was actually 37 inches. Counsel for the OP (Giorgio Armani) failed to satisfy us that the measurements as shown on the label tally with the size of the jeans, the forum ruled.
Armani in its defence had contended that the pair of jeans was brought for exchange more than a month after its purchase,and they replace garments only within 10 days of sale.
