Anna & Co plan repeat, book Maidan for sit-in

Sending out a strong signal to the government,Team Anna has already started making preparations for a major agitation by the end of December.

Sending out a strong signal to the government,Team Anna has already started making preparations for a major agitation by the end of December. Ramlila Maidan, where Anna Hazare held the previous protest, has been booked by the team from December 27 onwards, for yet another largescale agitation.

Though Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD),the civic body that owns the Central Delhi park, has asked Team Anna to get a no objection certificate (NOC) from the Delhi Police,it has officially communicated that the park is free for allotment during that period.

Team Anna had applied for booking the site on different dates earlier, but the application was turned down as the Ramlila Maidan was already booked on those dates. Following a fresh application made last week, the civic body has confirmed the availability of the plot, but has asked for the mandatory NOC from the Delhi Police.

Manish Sisodia, spokesperson of Team Anna, told Newsline,“We received an official notification from the MCD on Friday about the availability of the Maidan from December 27 to January 5. Though we had asked for a booking for further into January,we have been told that the Maidan is free only till January 5. We will apply to the Delhi Police for the NOC in a couple of days…. If a strong Lokpal Bill is not passed during the ongoing winter session of Parliament,we are determined to take the agitation forward. We have made the bookings for well after the winter session gets over and will wait for the government to act in time.”

Though Sisodia said the form of agitation is yet to be decided, sources in Team Anna said there is a possibility that Anna might go on another fast.
