(PTI Photo) In the wake of the increasing heat in the city, Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav on Friday issued an order directing employers to ensure adequate facilities for workers.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Gurgaon recorded a maximum temperature of 46.5 degree Celsius and a minimum temperature of 29.8 degree Celsius on Friday.
The order asked employers and RWA societies to arrange water, cooler and medical coverage for workers apart from limiting the outdoor work in the noon for daily wagers, gig workers and domestic helps.
“As it is evident, there is an outbreak of severe heat wave in the District Gurugram, which poses a danger to all the casual workers, daily wage labourers, gig workers, house helps/domestic maids, delivery boys and construction/open site workers, which are likely to be affected by the heat wave conditions,” he said.
The facilities listed out include availability of clean drinking water at the workplace; arrangement of shade, ventilation and water coolers at workplace; provision of ORS/glucose kits/shikanji/nimbu pani, water bottles and ice packs for workers; allotting minimum outdoor work between 12 pm and 4 pm; covering the medical costs of workers exposed to heat wave related illnesses and avoiding the calling of house helps during afternoon time.
