Air hostess’s help records statement,cops alert airline

A day after a 12-year-old domestic help of an Air India air hostess escaped from an apartment where she had been allegedly illegally confined,tortured and harassed,police have contacted the airline and have also issued a lookout notice (LOC) against the employer.

According to police,the air hostess who is in Australia,will be questioned when she returns to the country. “We have tied up with the airline and have informed airport authorities. She will be in custody as soon as she returns,” an officer said.

Police said they have also contacted the the girl’s parents in Manipur and have asked them to come and meet their daughter. “The 12-year-old was under a state of shock and did not even remember her phone number or her address. The staff found her address and contacted her parents,who will be coming to Delhi soon,” police said.

According to officials,the air hostess’s sister,who had found the girl,will also be questioned and may be arrested too. A case of trafficking,bonded child labour under the JJ Act had been registered,police said.

A city court on Wednesday recorded the statement of the girl before the magistrate under Section 164 of CrPC. The girl was allegedly assaulted with a belt,starved and locked inside the house.

She was not paid for her work,the girl said in her statement.
