Adventure island

Imagine being stranded on a deserted island without anybody to rescue you, what would you do on your first day?

Imagine being stranded on a deserted island without anybody to rescue you, what would you do on your first day? Would you go looking for help or would you just laze under the bright sun and wait for help to come your way? Would you panic or would you just chill? Quest seeks student’s creative ideas and here is what they would do in such a situation.

1 The music of the splashing waves mixes with the soft rustling of the tree leaves. The scent of the sand and the ocean enters and leaves me…. wait a minute… the ocean? I open my eyes and find myself exactly where I was. Oh! It’s true! I really am stuck on an island!

“And I don’t even know the name of the island,’’ I wonder. Well,it hardly makes a difference.

I sit on the sand and stare at the unending blue sky and the unending blue ocean. The sun started rising. Oh! The shades! It has a hypnotising effect on me.

On the first day on this island,I could have ran here and there, looking for help, which would never come, instead I chose to sit there and appreciate the miracle that is life. Khushboo Khatra,IX B

2 If I were stuck on an island,my first day would be challenging. My priority would be to abandon all thoughts and take a good nap. After waking up,I would search for an oasis. Dates,as it is,would be out of reach and I would obviously take out the cookies from my left hip pocket to eat. It would be weird to drink water from a small lake, even though I am surrounded by an ocean! When I would be tired of walking,I will have fun by rolling down huge sand dunes. I would scream and shout and to express my loneliness. Slow witted,as I am,when the fears of darkness would surround me,I would take out my S-56 low frequency radio transmitter from my right hip pocket and signal for help.Saurabh Maithani,IX C

3 If by some bizarre stroke of luck I reach a deserted island,I would be quite amazed. The first task on my to-do list would be to have a long nap. Then I would try to climb a tall tree to scan the island. Then I would survey the island. All this hard work is sure to make me hungry,so I will be compelled to comb the island for food. Hoping that I do find food and content the rumbling of my tummy,I would try to collect some dry sticks or wood and light a fire hoping that the smoke will be visible from far. As the sun would set I would try to make a hammock out of leaves or twigs to sleep in. Then, hoping that I wake up in my bed next morning,I would go off to sleep.

4 Nothing would horrify me more than the thought of living alone and that too on a deserted island,as I can’t survive in isolation. But if that happens and I am stuck there, all that I would do depends on whether I have my cell phone with me or not. If it’s with me,I need not do anything,as I can spend the whole day chatting with my friends. But if I do not have it,I would use my time in the best possible way. I would collect seashells, enjoy the beauty of the island,as well as gather some food. I would meditate,as it would enhance my mental strength, which I certainly would need at that time. I would try to make a fire to keep the wild animals away and desalinate water. If I had some paper and pens with me I would write some poems. I know I would spend the day pretty well but the idea of spending a dark night on a deserted island gives me the goose bumps.

5 Being stuck on a deserted island is definitely an adventure that one would remember forever. I would begin the first day by panicking. Then I would convince myself that this is my fate and that there is no point moping about it. Once I have have the courage I would think of means of escape. First on my list would be to check if my mobile is busted or not. If not, then I would see if I can get connectivity at any point on the deserted island. Since swimming is definitely not an option,I would devise a plan to attract the attention of any ship. I would explore the island and gather edible fruits and nuts. I would also gather sticks to build a fire in order to keep any wild animals that may inhabit the island away and for light during the night. Before the day is over I will try to build a small shelter for myself and also try to catch some fish. I would end the day by fervently praying that I would be rescued and then go to sleep.
