A Faridabad firm promises to convert your home into a European palace

You don’t have to be erstwhile royalty to live the lifestyle of a king. Want a room identical to the one Louis XIV stayed in when he was King of France in the 17th century? Step into Elitaire,a new interior solutions store in Faridabad, which boasts furniture identical to those found in palaces across Europe.

From the red and gold décor of Queen Elizabeth II’s living room to a bronze dining table from the royal palace of Versailles, the 22,000 sq feet store on the second floor of the Crown Interiorz mall, allows you to give your house a royal makeover.

“We have seven different themes, from the Rosenberg Castle in Denmark, the Buckingham Palace in England, the Palace of Sans Souci in Germany and the Castle of Prague to the Palace of Wilanow in Poland and the Palace of Versailles in France,” says Praveen Rao,managing director of Dolphin Mart, owners of the store.

The styles range from baroque to the exuberance of rococo to the austerity of the neo-classical. Each theme comprises an ensemble — the living room (chest of drawers, bedside table, dresser mirror); dining room (side board and six chairs) and drawing room (a centre table, three sofas, four single chairs and two side tables).

Each collection has been assembled from over 82 design houses across the UK,Italy,Spain and Germany. “When I toured these palaces during my visits abroad,I was fascinated by the interiors. I decided to replicate these palaces for Indian homes,” says Rao.

He has already sold a Buckingham Palace and a Palace of Sans Souci theme since the store opened in September. The furniture is made from beach wood, with a liberal use of bronze,24-carat gold plating and stained glass.

Though you don’t have to pay a king’s ransom, each theme comes with a steep price tag. The Palace of Wilanow is at Rs 1.5 crore while the Castle of Prague is a tad higher at Rs 2 crore. “After an order is given, there is a three-month wait period before delivery,” says Rao. So,if your want to live in a palace this summer, now’s the time to place your order.
