6 held for stealing cheques

The Noida police arrested six persons on Sunday for stealing cheque books and withdrawing money.

The Noida police arrested six persons on Sunday for stealing cheque books and withdrawing money. The accused used to steal cheque books in collusion with courier boys designated to deliver bank mails,the police said.

They had opened bank accounts with fake documents and used the stolen cheques to transfer money in them. The police have recovered debit and credit cards of various banks from the accused. “They also took loans with fake documents,” Ashok Tripathi,SP (City) Noida,said.

The accused were arrested from Park Plaza,Sector 57,after the police received a tip off.

The accused have been identified as Sanjay,Sunil Kumar Singh,Akhilesh Kumar Shukla,Deepak,Nirbhay Kumar Pandey and Sawan Kumar.

Five country-made pistols,knives and bullets have been recovered for them,the police said. The role of courier boys in the case is being investigated,the police said
