Days after the government declared that registration of land will be opened in newly legalised colonies once their boundary maps are submitted to the municipal corporations, various departments have got down to the task and shortlisted six such colonies to begin with.

Government sources said three agencies — Yashi Consulting, Prime Meridian and SKP —- have been empanelled to undertake the project.

Two colonies each have been shortlisted in Northwest, Southwest and East districts. In Northwest, Chandan Vihar and I-Block Prem Nagar-II have been shortlisted.

In Southwest, the agencies would survey Indira market and Nand Vihar. Joshi Colony in Mandawali and Harijan Basti in Shakarpur are the colonies selected in the East.

The agencies have been given the task of surveying colonies and preparing their boundary maps and a rough layout plan.

Sources said the land records will be dug out as the available records will be standard for the demarcation of boundaries. “No matter how much such maps will be, they will give agencies a dimension to work with. Superimposition of maps will be done and the ground situation will be approximated in relation to the maps,” a source said.

Boundary maps will be created for every colony and the survey team will also do a rough layout mapping. The government has decided to first focus on 312 colonies that are on private land.
