The police said no external injuries were found on the bodies of the deceased couple. “The postmortem examination has been conducted and the cellphones of the couple seized for further investigation," Banthia said. In a case of suspected suicide, a couple was found hanging early Wednesday from the ceiling fan in their room by their four-year-old son, at a flat in Surender Colony in Jharoda, the police said.
DCP (North) Raja Banthia identified the deceased as Nitesh (32) and his 28-year-old wife. Their son, who used to sleep in another room, found them hanging from a dupatta.
According to the police, a PCR call regarding the deaths was received at Wazirabad police station around 3.45 am on Wednesday. “Upon reaching the spot, the police team found the couple hanging from the ceiling fan. The couple had been married for the last five years,” Banthia said.
The police said Nitesh worked as private contractual employee with the Delhi Jal Board, while his wife ran a beauty parlour. While they resided on the first floor of a four-storey building, Nitesh’s parents stayed on the ground floor.
“The child had woken up at midnight… he came his parents’ room and found them hanging… When they did not respond to him, he went downstairs and informed his grandparents. They immediately cut the chunni and laid them down,” the DCP said.
