Three couples, whose children had gone missing, turned up at the AIIMS Trauma Centre in the hope that the injured baby was theirs. Doctors said though their addresses were noted, nobody was allowed to see the child. “The baby was taken off the ventilator last night, and she is being fed through a Ryle’s Tube. She still cannot breathe on her own,and we have inserted a tube in her trachea for support. Even if she recovers,it will be a difficult life for her,” AIIMS Trauma Centre chief Dr M C Misra said.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government said it would do all it can to help the infant. “Let the report come out. We will extend all possible support,” Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said.
